ILSA FOLKS AS MODERN PENTATHLONISTS
In the late 1960's, CFR Timisoara emerged as Romania's best modern pentathlon team. Lead by coach/athlete Baneth Peter Ivan,
the team consisted of mostly former ILSA swimmers, such as Rolik Francisc, his youngest brother Gyuri, and Alfred Braunecker.
The migration of swimmers to modern pentathlon started in the late 1960's, triggered by Baneth's success at the national level.
CFR's national dominance ended in the mid 1970's with Rolik Gyuri's untimely passing and the defection of Baneth Peter and Rolik Francisc.
